Learn how to recognize and use older versions of the Ensembl Genome Browser, which you may find being used at external databases that are based on the Ensembl software package or referred to in older publications. Ensembl lets you browse a graphical display of any of its genomes and find association information about the annotations. Use navigation links and personally-configured browsers to customize the information you receive. A BLAST-like tool allows you to search all the genomes with a query sequence, and BioMart lets you perform advanced searches and download large datasets. Understanding how different Ensembl versions are similar and different will allow you to use older versions as needed in your research.
